Mork Takes Munson in March (a Memorium)
The Munson Cup in all it’s glory
On March 23rd, the day of The Honorable Munson and Munson Chapter Championship, the cold bite of competition was in the air. Two months later we are still reeling from the excitement of the day but finally ready to talk about what was witnessed.
The day started with communication via electronic post to get everyone excited by annoucing the Regular Season’s superlatives:
1st Overall
Tom Ryan (156.9 AVG)
Helen Dillon Memorial Award (Most Strikes)
Tom Ryan (39)
Fred Glasier Memorial Trophy (Most Spares)
Allyson Chiappi (42)
Rookie of the Year
Krista Hasbrouck (124 AVG)
Kelley Pacifico (126.9 AVG)
Most Mediocre Pin
Krystal Stanley-Mork (129.1 AVG)
Median season average was 129.4 - closest to this average wins the MMP
Arguably the most important award in all of sports, even professional
Upon later fact checking, Kelley Pacifico was found to have the highest Rookie season average with a 126.9 AVG. A leaked Signal chat confirms that more confirmation should have been conducted before sending out the official e-mail. A sparsely attended press conference was held outside of Rab’s prior to the Playoff event where an official apology statement was read.
Exhibit A
“I already told my husband I won Rookie of the Year, so I don’t really care but no one can tell him…” Hasbrouk was overheard telling passerby.
While Allyson Chiappi arrived just in time to receive her Spares trophy, before league co-commissioner Dan Derwin took it for himself, the trophies themselves did not. After a shipping mishap, the trophies for 1st Overall, Most Spares and plate for Most Strikes were errantly delivered to Colorado instead of New Brighton. League Artist in Residence, Hillary Scott created hand crafted IOUs to be handed out at the event.

HONORABLE MUNSON WILDCARD
Once the Wildcard event kicked off, competition was fierce. With only one game to impress and take the Wildcard spot against Tom Ryan in the Championship bracket, Matt Wilson and Sean Kuhl emerged as top contenders. But with a 171, Matt Wilson secured the win, moving to the big league’s and leaving the rest to play two games in The Mediocre Cup Finals.
MUNSON CUP - ROUND ONE
While Wilson started off strong, Tom Ryan squeaked a victory with a 128.
Underdog story of the season, Keri Sheheen had a huge cheering section, but Daniel Derwin pulled out the win with a 166.
In a surprising turn, Kevin Rogers, ‘23-’24 Munson Cup winner, was eliminated with a 98 in round one by Kris Mork bowling a 137.
Jon Marotte faced off against ‘23-’24 Rookie of the Year, Paul Drozek, who ended victoriously with a 155.
MUNSON CUP - ROUND TWO
Kris Mork advances to the final round with a 157.
Paul Drozek eliminates Dan Derwin with a 173.
(MEANWHILE…IN THE MEDIOCRE CUP FINALS)
After a strong Wildcard showing, Hillary Scott ended the Mediocre Cup Finals with a turkey but that still was not enough to secure The Mediocre Cup. Christine Beaton made a victorious return to mediocre bowling, securing the hardware with a two game average of 164.
MUNSON CUP - ROUND THREE
The entire league watched as Paul Drozek and Kris Mork faced off in the final round of the Munson Cup Chapter Championship, with all the oohs and aahs of a close game.
In the end, Mork threw a turkey in the sunset of his game to secure the victory with a 159.

Handshakes and a photo opp with League Officials solidified the requisite fan fair and with Krystal Mork taking home the Most Mediocre Pin for the season, the two most coveted pieces of league hardware headed home together.
